What is it?

Every year the RCNA hosts an easter egg hunt in the greenbelt near the Rattan Creek community center, starting around 9am. We organize the hunt by age group: 0-3 years, 4-6, and 7-10 year olds so that everyone gets a chance to collect their goodies! There are usually other activities lined up in addition to the hunt such as face-painting, so don’t think if you show up before 10am without an infant or toddler in tow there won’t be anything to do. Remember to check rattancreek.org or our Facebook page for more details leading up to the event.

Typical Schedule

9:00 AM: 0-3 year old hunt

This is how we have scheduled the event in previous years, but please check Facebook or the site regularly for more specific details leading up to the event. Starting at 9am, the 0-3 year old area opens up in a fenced off, heavily supervised area indicated in the map below. We let folks into the area in small groups for a few minutes at a time and replenish the field after every sweep, so don’t worry about us running out! During the hunt and while you wait in line you can also take your pictures with the Easter Bunny!

10:00 AM: Easter Bunny Parade

Starting around 10am, immediately following the 0-3 year old hunt, we’ll have everyone line up and follow the Easter Bunny! The parade starts at the intersection of Tamayo Drive and Grovedale Trail.  The route is very short and takes about 10 or 15 minutes. That gives us time to put out the eggs for the first of two Easter Egg “Hunts” for the older kids in the soccer field.

10:15 AM: 4-6 and 7-10 hunts

The Easter Egg hunts for the 4-6 and 7-10 year olds take place in the soccer field near the Community Center. We first line up the 7-10 year olds. We have found in the past that if they don’t go first, they won’t be quite as patient and understanding as the 4-6 year olds. Also, they are done in about 2 minutes. If you haven’t been, you’ll discover that the eggs aren’t really all that hidden, more just strewn about in the field. After the 7-10 year olds are done, a huge number of your neighbors go to quickly spread out the remaining eggs for the 4-6 year olds, and then that group has their turn to enjoy the egg hunting festivities.

What should I bring?

Remember to bring baskets or bags for the kids to use to collect their goodies! We’ve seen Easter Baskets, Halloween Baskets, HEB grocery bags, fanny packs, and just about anything else you can think of for the kids to collect their bounty. Whatever you decide to bring will be just fine.

Plastic Easter Egg Recycling

We will have receptacles out in order to collect and recycle the Easter Eggs for next year. Several thousand Easter Eggs cost several hundred bucks, and we try reuse them as much as we can. Once the kids have their loot, please encourage them to give the plastic eggs back to the Easter bunny so they can be reused next year.

Visit us at the RCNA booth!

As always, there will be an RCNA booth at the Easter Egg Hunt with your RCNA board volunteering to serve as hunt command and control, answer any questions you may have, and help you out in any way we can. This is a very family friendly event, with loads of your very friendly neighbors! We hope you can come out and join us! See you around the neighborhood!

Candy Donations

We gladly accept candy donations of new unopened bags of candy. Please contact president@rattancreek.org if you would like to donate!
